BEAT THE BANK - ADDITION

number sense · adding dice rolls and identifying odd or even sums

To add numbers using mental strategies, to identify numbers as even or odd

BEAT THE BANK - ADDITION is a Grade 2 game that combines mental addition with odd-and-even reasoning. Players predict whether the sum of dice rolls will be odd or even, wager counters, and then add the rolls to test the prediction. Each round asks students to calculate and classify the result, so parity and addition stay connected.

Use it for small-group review when students are developing addition fluency within 20 and beginning to notice patterns in odd and even sums. Ask students to explain whether certain combinations tend to make odd or even totals and why. Generate the lesson for BEAT THE BANK - ADDITION with a free Find a Math Game account.
