CARD SKIPPING

multiplication · multiplication sentences and skip counting

To understand and create multiplication sentences

CARD SKIPPING is a Grade 3 multiplication game that connects skip counting to multiplication sentences. A player flips a card, rolls a die, skip counts by the card value for the number of terms shown on the die, and then states the related multiplication fact. Players can challenge an incorrect count using the multiplication chart as evidence, which adds a useful checking-and-justifying element.

Use it for small-group multiplication practice when students are moving from repeated addition and skip counting toward fact fluency. Listen for whether students can connect the final term to the matching factor-and-product statement. Generate the CARD SKIPPING lesson with a free Find a Math Game account. No credit card is required, and free accounts receive 3 lifetime lesson generations.
