Digit Duel

Digit Duel is a place value game for Grades 2–4 in which players build the greatest possible multi-digit number. Each digit card must be placed into an open position as soon as it is drawn and cannot be moved later, so students have to judge whether a digit belongs in a high-value place or should be saved for a smaller position. The same format can be used with two-, three-, or four-digit numbers.

Use it with partners or a small group for place value review that includes strategy as well as comparison.
