DOUBLE TROUBLE

mixed operations · multiplication facts and adding products

To multiply numbers by 0 to 12, to fluently add within 1000

DOUBLE TROUBLE is a Grade 3 mixed-operations card game that combines multiplication facts with addition. Students draw four cards, form two multiplication problems, find both products, and then add those products together. Each turn therefore links fact fluency to a larger calculation instead of stopping as soon as the multiplication facts are solved.

Use it for partner or small-group practice when students need multiplication review plus repeated addition within 1,000. The score sheet gives students a record of their work and makes it easy to spot whether errors come from multiplication or from adding the products.
