Equation Links

Equation Links is a Grade 6 whole-class algebra activity that creates a chain from one solved equation to the next. Students solve an equation, then use its solution as a number in a new equation they create. The class continues linking equations this way, so solving and equation-building happen together rather than as separate tasks.

Use it when you want students to think about equations from both directions: finding an unknown and constructing a statement with a chosen value.
