EVEN OR ODD BATTLE

number sense · identifying even and odd totals

To identify if a number is even or odd [2.OA.C.3].

EVEN OR ODD BATTLE is a Grade 2 partner game for identifying whether quantities are even or odd. Eight dominoes are placed in the center, and students count the dots on each tile before sorting the dominoes into their assigned odd or even category. Roles switch each round, so both players repeatedly classify totals in both ways.

Use it for hands-on number sense practice when students are learning parity through concrete quantities rather than only numerals. The sorting format lets a teacher see whether students are counting accurately and recognizing even/odd structure.
