Even or Odd Line

number sense · distinguishing even and odd numbers on a number line

To distinguish even and odd numbers on number lines [2.OA.C.3].

Even or Odd Line is a Grade 2 number-line game for distinguishing even and odd numbers. One player takes the EVEN role and the other takes ODD, then each may move only when the die shows a value that matches that role. The repeated movement makes parity part of an ongoing number-line pattern instead of a one-time classification question.

Use it for partner practice when students are working on even and odd numbers alongside skip counting or number-line fluency. Watching which rolls allow each player to move can help students notice recurring odd/even patterns. A free Find a Math Game account lets you generate lesson support for Even or Odd Line. No credit card, and the free account includes 3 lesson generations for life.
