Expo Face Off
exponents · evaluating powers
To evaluate exponents [8.EE.A.1].
Expo Face Off is a Grade 8 partner card game for evaluating powers. One player supplies the base card and the other supplies the exponent, then both race to calculate the resulting power. Because the pair changes every round, students repeatedly translate base-and-exponent notation into a numerical value instead of only identifying the parts of an exponential expression.
Use it for quick exponent fluency practice after students understand powers as repeated multiplication. The head-to-head format keeps the focus narrow: recognize the base, recognize the exponent, and evaluate accurately. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate the lesson for Expo Face Off.
