Expression Shuffle

equations · simplifying algebraic expressions

To apply properties of operations to simplify expressions.

Expression Shuffle is a Grade 6 algebra game for simplifying expressions with the properties of operations. Students work with 16 puzzle squares, matching adjacent algebraic expressions that simplify to the same form. The puzzle format makes equivalence visible: each match has to work mathematically before the full arrangement fits together, so students repeatedly simplify and compare expressions instead of completing a list of disconnected problems.

Use it for partner work or a small group when you want students explaining why two expressions are equivalent and checking one another’s simplification. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate teacher-ready lesson support for Expression Shuffle. No credit card is required, and the free account includes 3 lesson generations for life.
