Fact Partners

Fact Partners is a Grade 6 integer activity that asks students to find a classmate whose integer problem has the opposite answer to their own. Students solve addition or subtraction problems involving positive and negative numbers, keep their results private, and move around the room looking for a companion fact. The matching task makes the sign of an answer matter and gives students repeated reasons to calculate and compare integer results.

Use this as a whole-class movement activity after students have begun working with integer addition and subtraction.
