Forehead Addition Face-Off

addition · addition fluency and missing addends

A fast-paced 3-player game for addition fluency & missing addend skills

Forehead Addition Face-Off is a three-player addition game for Grades 1–3 that combines fact fluency with missing-addend reasoning. Two players hold unseen cards to their foreheads while the third player announces the sum. Each guesser can see the other addend but not their own, so they use the total and known addend to determine the hidden number.

Use it in a small group when students are ready to connect addition and subtraction as inverse operations. The format makes mental strategies easy to hear as students explain how the visible card and announced sum revealed the missing addend.
