Fraction Dice Game

fractions · comparing fractions

The goal of the game is to be the player with the largest rolled fraction at the end of the round.

Fraction Dice Game is a Grade 3 partner game for comparing fractions and thinking about risk. After rolling a fraction, a player can keep it or roll again in hopes of getting a larger value. A smaller second fraction means striking out, so students have to judge fraction magnitude before deciding whether another roll is worth the risk.

Use it when you want fraction comparison to involve prediction and verbal reasoning instead of a page of isolated pairs. Players record their fractions and must state comparisons such as why one value is greater than another.
