Fraction Initials is a Grade 4 activity that uses a 10-by-10 grid to connect fractions, decimals, and percents through a personal design. Students color their initials, count the shaded squares, and express the amount represented in all three forms. The hundred-square model makes the relationship among hundredths, decimal notation, and percent visible in a piece of work students create themselves.
