Fraction Line Up

Ordering Fractions, Problem Solving

Fraction Line Up is a Grade 4 strategy game for ordering fractions from least to greatest. Players draw fraction dominoes and commit each one to a position on a five-space board. Once a fraction is placed it cannot be moved, so every choice requires students to compare the new value with fractions already on the board and leave room for values that may appear later.

Use it for partner work when you want fraction ordering to involve planning rather than simply sorting a completed set. The reject and “bust” rules make estimation of fraction size important throughout the round. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate lesson support for Fraction Line Up.
