Going Back Home is a Grade 7 integer game that uses a number line to model addition and subtraction. Players begin at zero, draw cards, and move according to the card’s color: black values are added and red values are subtracted. Because every move changes the current position, students repeatedly connect an integer operation to direction and location on the number line.
Use it for partner or small-group practice when students are learning why adding and subtracting signed numbers changes position in predictable ways.
