Grid Lines
coordinate plane · graphing ordered pairs in all four quadrants
Draw designs, using ordered pairs, in all four quadrants of the coordinate grid [7.SS(T).13].
Grid Lines is a coordinate-plane strategy game for Grades 6–8. Students roll dice to generate points in specific quadrants, plot two ordered pairs, and draw a straight line through them across the game board. Points are scored based on the shaded regions the line crosses, so accurate graphing affects both the mathematics and the game result.
Use it for partner work when students need practice with ordered pairs in all four quadrants and with locating points from x- and y-coordinates. The line-drawing step also gives students a reason to check plotting precision before scoring. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate teacher-ready lesson support for Grid Lines.
