LESS Or MORE

number sense · counting · comparing quantities as fewer or more

To determine fewer and more, compare by counting

LESS Or MORE is a Kindergarten whole-class comparison game built around two groups of candies. Partners receive unequal portions from the same set and then respond to a prompt asking who has more or who has fewer. Because students can directly count and compare the two groups, the language of more and fewer stays tied to visible quantities.

Use it when young learners are developing comparison vocabulary and one-to-one counting. Repeated rounds with different splits help students see that the larger-looking group is not always obvious until the quantities are checked.
