Basic addition facts

Match-A-Sum is a Grade 1 addition card game that asks students to find two number cards whose values combine to make a target sum. Players keep four digit cards face up and compare them with the sum card in the center, turning down a pair when it matches. New cards replace successful pairs, so students get repeated practice with addition combinations from both directions.

Use it in a small group when students are building fluency with basic addition facts and number bonds. Because the target sum is shown first, students must think about which two addends could make it. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate teacher-ready lesson support for Match-A-Sum. No credit card is required, and the free account includes 3 lesson generations for life.
