Measurement Chains

Measurement Chains is a Grade 2 partner challenge where students try to make the longest possible paper chain from a single sheet of construction paper. After building, groups measure their chains and compare both chain length and number of links. The task reveals that having more links does not automatically produce a longer chain, making design choices part of the measurement discussion.

Use it when students are learning to measure length and compare data from different designs.
