Measuring Up to Abe Lincoln

Measuring Up to Abe Lincoln is a Grade 2 partner activity that compares student height with Abraham Lincoln’s 6-foot-4-inch height. Students trace one another on large paper, measure their own height in inches, and find the difference between their height and Lincoln’s. Older students can also express the measurements in feet and inches.

Use it for partner work when students are practicing linear measurement, comparing lengths, and connecting inches with feet.
