MULTIPLICATION BOGGLE

multiplication · multiplication with adjacent number squares

To multiply two numbers up to 2 digits [3.OA.C.7].

MULTIPLICATION BOGGLE is a Grade 3 multiplication game played on a 4-by-4 grid of card-generated numbers. A spinner gives the target product, and students search for two adjacent squares—horizontal, vertical, or diagonal—whose values multiply to that target. The grid search makes fact fluency visual and strategic because students must locate factors as well as calculate products.

Use it in a small group when students are building multiplication fluency and factor recognition. Since number squares can be used within a growing pattern, students also have a reason to scan the whole board rather than focus on one isolated fact.
