Playing with Percents (Part 1) is a Grade 6 whole-class activity that connects benchmark percents to familiar fractions of a group. Students work with values such as 50%, 25%, and 20%, linking them to one half, one fourth, and one fifth while finding how many people or objects make up that portion. The activity also reverses the reasoning by giving a part and percent and asking for the whole.
