Probability Dice Game Part 2

probability · compound events with sums of two dice

Calculate probabilities of rolling one sum or another with two dice.

Probability Dice Game Part 2 extends the Grade 7 dice work to compound “or” events. Teams use the sum probabilities from Part 1 to combine outcomes such as rolling a 5 or 6, 11 or 12, or other pairs of sums, then compare which event is most or least likely. The activity shows how probabilities can be added when the outcomes are mutually exclusive.

Use it after students have built the two-dice probability table and understand individual sum probabilities. Comparing several compound events gives students a reason to interpret the size of probabilities, not just calculate them.
