Putting Numbers Together
divisibility · creating numbers with multiple factors from 2 to 12
Create numbers divisible by at least 3 of the numbers from 2 to 12, then identify all divisors.
Putting Numbers Together is a Grade 4 partner activity where students create numbers designed to have several divisors. One student builds a three- or four-digit number that is divisible by at least three values from 2 through 12, and the partner determines all of the divisors that work. The creator must think forward from factors while the solver reasons backward from the finished number.
Use it for partner review when students are practicing divisibility rules and factor relationships. Switching roles gives students experience both constructing and analyzing numbers.
