Ratio Mania
ratios · writing ratios from card pips
To write a ratio to describe objects in a picture.
Ratio Mania is a Grade 6 card-and-dice game for writing ratios from visible card pips. A die determines which comparison is required—such as red pips to black pips, red pips to total pips, or black pips to total pips—then four cards provide the quantities. Wild cards can change values, adding another layer of reasoning before the ratio is written.
Use it for partner or small-group practice when students are learning that the same collection can support several different ratios depending on what is being compared. Ask students to name the two quantities before writing the ratio. Create a free Find a Math Game account to generate teacher-ready lesson support for Ratio Mania.
