Roll and Match

number sense · counting · counting dots up to 20 and matching numerals

To count dots - up to 20 [K.CC.A.1].

Roll and Match is a Kindergarten counting game that asks students to count dot collections up to 20 and connect each collection to the matching numeral. A die determines which box a player answers, and correct responses let the player claim that space on the game board. The varying dot arrangements make students attend to quantity rather than memorize one fixed picture.

Use it for partner work when children are building one-to-one counting and numeral recognition. Ask students to say the number aloud after counting before they match the dot box to the numbered circle.
