Skip, Skip, Skip to My Lou

multiplication · creating multiplication sentences and using products as movement

To understand and create multiplication sentences [3.OA.C.7].

Skip, Skip, Skip to My Lou is a Grade 3 movement game for creating multiplication sentences from dice. One player rolls two factors, the partner states the multiplication sentence, and a correct answer earns steps equal to the product. A final odd-or-even die sum determines whether the player farthest from or closest to the start line wins the round.

Use it for partner work when students are learning multiplication facts and connecting products with repeated movement. The physical distance makes the size of products visible while the odd/even twist keeps each round unpredictable.
