Tangled Angles

geometry · classifying angles

Classify given angles as acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex [6.SS(M).12].

Tangled Angles is a Grade 4 geometry game where a spinner tells students which type of angle to build on a geoboard. Players use three pegs and an elastic to create acute, right, obtuse, straight, or reflex angles without crossing existing arms or reusing pegs. As the board fills, finding a valid construction becomes more challenging.

Use it in a small group when students are learning to classify angles by size. Requiring players to name the angle type before building keeps the geometry vocabulary connected to the model.
