Target Twenty-Five

addition · addition fluency within 100

Make the five cards in your hand add up to exactly 25. Be the first player to reach exactly 25 and win the round by collecting your winning hand of cards!

Target Twenty-Five is an addition card game for Grades 2–4 where players try to make the five cards in their hand total exactly 25. On each turn, students discard one card, draw a replacement, and quietly recalculate the hand. A player who reaches exactly 25 calls out, shows the cards for verification, and keeps the winning hand as a score pile.

Use it for small-group practice when students are building addition fluency and decomposing 25 in different ways. The draw-and-trade structure encourages students to think about which card would bring the total closer to the target.
