Tessellations (Part 2)

Tessellations (Part 2) is a Grade 8 geometry investigation of semi-regular tessellations. Students use cut-outs of triangles, squares, hexagons, octagons, and dodecagons to build repeating tilings made from two or more regular polygons, with the same arrangement at every vertex. The challenge is to discover as many of the eight semi-regular tessellations as possible.

Use it as a whole-class exploration after students understand regular tessellations.
