Who “OWNS” THE CIRCLE

fractions · fraction models and equivalent fractions

The object of the game is to “own” the most circles.

Who “OWNS” THE CIRCLE is a Grade 3 fraction game where dice generate a numerator and denominator for each turn. Students color that fractional amount into one or more circles, may use equivalent fractions such as 1/3 = 2/6, and claim a circle once more than half is shaded in their color. Equal halves leave a circle neutral.

Use it for partner work when students are learning fraction models, equivalence, and the meaning of more than one half. The option to split a fraction across circles or represent an equivalent form creates useful strategic choices.
